Happy Birthday Nirmitee Sawant: How The Vaccum Cleaner Star Came To Rule Marathi Comedy Space
The queen of comedy who ruled the Marathi industry for the last 2 decades just turned 61. We tell you why Nirmitee Sawant is the best there ever was!

Nirmitee’s popular TV show Kumari Gangubai Non-Matric along with Pandhrinath Kamble was a superhit series back in the ’90s! With a moral attached to every episode, Gangubai sent the audience roaring in laughter with every episode.

This was followed by a series of films and theatre performances, which added to her reputation as a comedy queen. The most popular play Jau Bai Jorat, followed by Chuk Bhul Dyavi Ghyavi, Shri Bai Samarth, Shyamchi Mummy, and the latest one Vacuum Cleaner will be incomplete if not for Nirmitee’s amazing comedy talent.

She was also one of the judges for the comedy reality show Fu Bai Fu on Zee Marathi TV channel where she guided new comedians on comedy, timing, acting, impersonation, and mimicry.

Nirmitee was a part of hit Marathi films like Horn OK Please, Ideachi Kalpana, Chal Dhar Pakad, Aiyyaa, Gangubai Non-Matric, Ekulti Ek, Bai Go Bai, and Hichyasathi Kay Pan which did exemplary collections at the box office.

Nirmitee’s current play Vacuum Cleaner is opposite Ashok Saraf. This play is about Ranjan and Naina are married for 28 years and lead a harmonious life together but this family is emotionally dysfunctional. They have forgotten about their love for each other but a vacuum cleaner reminds them to pause and re-think life. With the 61st birthday of this legendary actress we wish we can see more of her in the years to come!
